Just Keeping My Hands Busy~

Decoupage + earrings that are too heavy to wear = something that kept my hands busy while I was sick. It's a pretty nice earring holder, truth be told! It started out as something fun, but turned out to be pretty useful. It frees up my main earring holder, leaving space for earrings that don't stretch my earlobes too far. It's also been turned into a home for mismatched, partnerless earrings, which is pretty nice, too. I really love how the colors matched up, and the depth makes me happy (which is what we aim for in decoupage)!

Anywho, had fun and thought I'd share some of the creative joy...even if it is silly.

Happy Monday, everyone! ♥

P.S. Getting to be on the well side. Got another lingering cough, but it's slowly fading. Figured out that the flu is going through my house and that symptoms last up to two weeks AFTER the flu is gone. Yay for lingering fatigue! I see more crafts in the future because of this!

Fine Fruits!

{Mulberries before my mom and I went crazy picking them! Messy little things!}

{We have an absolute ton of peaches this year! We always do, but the brown rot gets to them, so we never get to have any.}

{While we were busily picking the mulberries, we looked down and saw that the cherry trees were bright red. So, with a squeal, we tore over to those trees and picked quite a few cherries while we were at it. We're going to have a big mixed-fruit pie tonight as a result!}

{Just to show those of you who do not know how messy mulberries are...here are my hands after an hour of picking. My arms have purple splotches, and so does my neck! Totally worth it, though! And I'm still stained purple, even after washing my hands and getting a bath!}

Galatians 5:22-23

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law."

Happy Sunday, all! ♥

A Pink Camo Case!

These past few weeks have been a fantastic start to a summer break! I applied for a job, made President's List at college, and got some more things crocheted! The creation above is another phone case, this one quite snug on Otterbox cases, so probably ideal for a phone without one OR for a phone with a case thinner than an Otterbox. But the colors are fun -- brown and pink -- and I chose to top it all off with a bow instead of a button.

For this past week, however, I have been sick. I don't know where I got it or who I got it from, but it's been here driving my hypersensitive lungs crazy. I'm getting to be on the mend now, but the rest of my family has caught it. We're all going to be close to miserable for my birthday on Friday, I'm guessing.

Ah well. At least the view from my bedroom window is lovely!

Wishing you all a warm (and well!) Wednesday! ♥

Flowers for the Flies of Butter

Went to the Tennessee Aquarium with the family yesterday and had a blast in the butterfly house
 with my camera mainly due to the fact that where there are butterflies...there are tons more flowers! And if there is one thing (if you all haven't guessed by now) that I love to take pictures of, it's flowers!

While clearly not the main exhibit of the aquarium, I had a blast up here simply because of all the plants and thought I'd share some of the beautiful flowers with you all!

Have a wonderful Wednesday! ♥

Fishing Adventures

Yesterday was the first official family day back on the lake for some warm-weather fishing....and exactly what Mom wanted for Mother's Day. So, with much excitement, we all packed  the back of truck with all the kayaks and gear and headed out for a day of adventure.

And what a day of adventure it was.

Since our favorite fishing lake was closed, we had to go to a more fished one. So, needless to say it was a bit of a struggle to find a place that hadn't been over-fished. We had fun paddling about, though, and did eventually find just where the big fish were hanging out.In the meantime, we did manage to catch a few random worthy fish on our way, and one of which I had on the stringer off the side of my kayak.

Following the group, I paddled off a ways into a shallow cove with the hopes of catching a bass. I cast out and was intently watching my bobber and half-listening to a conversation between my mom and sister when my kayak suddenly tipped to the right. The lone fa fish on my stringer started flopping oddly, and I thought perhaps he was stuck on an underlying log or branch, That happens sometimes, so I grabbed the stringer and pulled i backwards a bit and up to get my fish off a branch.

It wasn't a branch, though. Or a log. Or a rock, even.

When I pulled the stringer up, it felt much heavier than it should have. Feeling that,  I thought maybe a small branch had gotten stuck in one of the stringer loops and was just freaking out the fish. Nothing unusual, especially since i am notorious for catching loose branches on my fishing hook. But I quickly noted that this branch was fighting back, swimming against my pull.

"Hey," I yelled. "Something has my fish!"

All eyes turned to me, and when I pulled the fish out further to free it, a large brown head appeared above the water, mouth attached to the belly of my fat fish. It was a snapping turtle, and he saw my potential dinner as HIS potential dinner, except he planned on eating his raw and right off my stringer!

Now, if you have been following my blog for a while you may remember one of my previous fishing trips, one in particular last summer when I was in the shallows and a snapping turtle the size of a log surfaced next to my kayak and hissed like a gator. Yeah. Add this memory to my current situation.

Desperate to free the fish and get this horrid creature away from my boat, I pulled the chain higher and higher into the air with him still hanging by my fish. He didn't just dangle above the air, though. Those flipper feet of his worked like crazy, actually giving me some trouble. To my horror, this turtle was big enough to completely stir up the bottom of the lake during our battle, surrounding my kayak in a huge cloud of mud.

Needless to say that as soon as I got his turtle-lips free of my munched-on fish, I paddled the heck outta Dodge. Not only had I been mentally screaming like a little girl, but I knew he'd now be following me around because of the almost-sushied fish on my stringer.

Ever time the fish flopped about after that instantly send me speeding off to avoid a similar experience. I don't care for snapping turtles, especially when they are large enough to hold their own in a tug of war IN the water against me. Nu-uh. Nope. Done.

Dang turtle ruined my evening of fishing. xD I couldn't wait to get out of the shallow water then!

Hope you all had an equally adventurous Mother's Day!

Crochet Times Three!

{Recently, I have gotten into crocheting phone cases! I found a pattern not too long ago and just started making it my own each time. These are the results!}

{This is a beaded bracelet I made my mom for Mother's Day today (Love my mom so much! Just saying!), hoping that it wasn't too gaudy for her tastes. However, she adores it, and I have a new made-up-pattern to begin perfecting. I already have some ideas in mind of a blue one...!}

{And then this, my little iPhone case! It fits a phone with an otterbox perfectly (I have yet to be able to make another that fits as perfectly as this one does), and I hope to be making more soon! A friend of mine suggested that I make these in the patterns of national flags, and I may do just that, provided I have the colors. The US and UK flags would be pretty insane, though. o.o I'd have to learn some quality embroidery!}

Have a wonderful Mother's Day, everyone!
Go forth and cook and clean and do all the the grocery shopping!
I'm going fishing with my mom today. Fun!

Happy Sunday! ♥

Southbound Road Trip!

Nothing like a lovely road trip down to south Georgia! Such a beautiful part of the state! The epitome of southern. I was a tad surprised by that fact, especially since I am from (and used to) the north Georgia mountains!

Little Plant Friends

Acquired some lovely new little garden friends! ♥
(Hopefully the cactus will have its own pot soon! )

And, announcements or announcements...I have totally survived this semester! My last final was today, and now I am free from homework! Even though I plan on getting a job this summer, I know I'll have some more free time to post here. With that in mind, I have several plans for what I shall be posting here, and you all will just have to wait and see what I have in store! (Hint: More...essay like posts. As if I haven't had enough essays to write, yes?)

Anywho, hope you're all having a wonderful Thursday! ♥
