Free Time?

I don't have very much free time at all anymore. Truthfully, I have no free time. Don't get me wrong, I adore studying all the different subjects that I am involved in right now. Nothing makes me happier than having my nose stuffed into a book of knowledge (most currently, history and poetry!) As enjoyable as it is, I do hate having no time for anything but work. I know many people balance families, work, and school at the same time, but five classes are a bit much for little ol' me. I can't get a job this semester because of the schedule, totally due to the fact that I work ten hours a day on homework. Any free time that I do have in spent in seven hours of hibernation at night...where I dream about school and church constantly.

HOWEVER. I do sometimes get ahead in my homework on the weekends (if I'm lucky), and this is the result. I made these two weeks ago, but I did happily sit myself down for two hours and make the top necklace in one go, and then had some creative energy left over to almost finish the bottom one. It was relaxing and refreshing to follow a pattern then, and I only wish I had time to do the same things today. (I dedicated today to folding three weeks worth of laundry, however, so not a wasted day.) I experimented with the color scheme of the last necklace, and while they would not go together often, they have the same hue, or tone I should say, and I was inspired to stick them together for that reason. As a result, I have nicknamed this necklace "Fruit Cereal" as it looks like Trix or Cap'n Crunch.

The monotony of my semester was broken up last week, though, when my mom called with wonderful news: Goodwill had a huge bag of thread for six dollars. Now it's in my room, Christmas colored threads and obnoxious pinks and purples alike, waiting for me to have time to take them out of their bags and organize them with the twenty others I have. It makes me happy to see the collection growing, though, and I formulate projects for each skein every time I look at them.

Well, pretty much the past few weeks in a nutshell. I'm still working and working and working, living weekend to weekend and waiting for Spring break to come so I can actually think about something other than the gobs of homework I have. May brings the end of this semester and I look forward to every moment of it! For now, though, I'll drag a rolling suitcase around behind me two days a week, struggling to keep it hidden under my desk and out of the way of wandering feet. Grades await, and midterms are looming!

Is This the Last Snow?

The snow is all gone here, but this is what the last day of it looked like. The same morning that it all came in, it melted within several hours. It was truly beautiful, and even more so because we woke up to it and weren't out and about when it decided to come down.

Anyway, according to the weather folks, we're supposed to get up to 70 degrees here this week....While excited for warmer weather, that much of a jump in temperature THAT fast worries me. When cold and hot mix together in such a short period of time, thunderstorms build up. And when you add wacky temps and thunderstorms together, what do you get? ...Mhm. Tornadoes, and my area tends to see quite a few. Northwest Georgia tends to get slammed in the spring, and I have a feeling that this tornado season is going to be particularly awful. Praying that it's not, but I know the weather here well enough to know that we're in for a ride at least.

Off the topic of weather, I have absolutely no homework at the moment. I just finished the very last thing, but it was a writing assignment, so that doesn't count as work to me. I don't know what I'm going to do with the rest of my day now! It's such an odd feeling to actually have FREE TIME. Not complaining at all, but school has become my life. I'm engulfed in homework 24/7 and hardly have enough time to sit and think to myself except when it's late at night and I'm exhausted anyway. I enjoy this semester very much, but it's definitely intense. With all the snow days lately, though, the homework load has been a LITTLE easier, so I have had some time to crochet a few things which I will share when I get the chance! Mwuah~

Well, the morning is still young, so I must be off to go proofread some things and entertain my little brother. Hope you all are having a wonderful Monday so far! ♥ Stay safe and enjoy the warmer weather coming! Hopefully it won't snow again....

The Morning Powder!

"Look outside!" my sister announced with sleepy wonder as she opened the door to my room. My head popped up and I blinked slowly, wondering what she meant. I should have guessed, for it was still dark in my room at 8 A.M.. "It snowed last night!" she continued, making my little brother jump out of his sleeping bag (It was sleepover night.) and rip open my bedroom curtains. When I peeled myself up and looked outside, I was confronted with this beauty.

Thanks to a light homework load, I was able to go outside with the family and play in the snow. It was perfectly sticky, ideal for snowball fights and building snowmen. I rolled a snowman base so large that it was as big as me, and then rolled another one later that required help to move! Needless to say I had some fun today. There are a certain amount of hours a kid is given to enjoy snow, and being a Southerner, I still haven't used all of mine. Today I did get to take a chunk out of that time, though. Thumbs up for snowball fights against the younger ones. No one can escape me.

I digress. Work is...all I think about anymore, so today was a needed break. School has been canceled most of this week due to the ice storm blazing through the state, so I've been chipping away at my work at home here. Thank goodness for hybrid classes!

Hope you're all having a good week so far! Who else is ready for Spring?
