The Day of the Honey Harvest!

{Today was honey harvesting day!}

{This is comb that the bees made all by themselves! Only the wooden frame was put in the hive, so they filled it with solid comb and honey!}

{It's very thick and very tasty!}

{A jar with just the comb inside! Isn't that beautiful?}

{More jars with cut comb.}

{A half-gallon jar with cut comb.}

{Jars of comb now filled with honey.}

{Look how gorgeous that is!}

Mom and Dad both worked hard this morning to haul in the heavy frames of honey, trying to keep the surprised bees from coming inside the house. Once inside, the frames would be put in a big metal tray until they could be scraped and put in the extractor to have the honey spun out. The honey is then strained and jarred. YUM!

Thank you, Lord, for this sweet and sticky gift!

A Little Creation

I was able to crochet a little something last night. I had the base of the headband already finished (as it has been for months), so I just made my own little flower pattern and sat on my sister's bed shaping the thread into something I wanted. It was so relaxing.

Back to the world of testing I go! Almost done with this semester! I'm getting closer!

At the moment, though, I am munching on homemade peach ice cream. Fabulous!

Have a good Saturday, everyone! ♥

Learning to Relax

I have realized that I really am stressing for no good reason. Yes, I have a lot of work. Yes, that is a worry of mine, but God has it all under control. I just need to do my part, then not worry about it. I just need to take it easy on myself. I don't have to do EVERYTHING on my own all at once. I can have an hour to just sit and enjoy the day between breakfast and when I start homework in the morning. I can have a day off and just do nothing. It is okay to sometimes be still and let your mind rest.

I want to banish that brief feeling of dread I have in the morning and inspire myself. I want to go a little slower and maybe read a little or write a little or  just do one thing each morning before I head to my classes that will help my mind face the day with an easy, positive attitude.

I just keep telling myself that I don't need to be stressed. I just need to pray and live.

Wishing you all a healthy-slow start to the work week! Make sure you have a little "you" time scheduled in there for even a little bit. It helps. Take a breather, my friends.

Happy Monday. ♥

Some Fourth Fun!

{Homemade ice cream! Yum!}

Our fireworks were lovely, and the kids provided me with some fantastic pictures when I told them to dance with their sparklers. How wonderful is a slowed shutter for the camera? 8D

After a big, wonderful meal, a movie, dessert, and then fireworks, the family retired happily for the night. My little brother fell asleep almost instantly, and the rest of us soon followed suit. It was a wonderful 4th we spent, all of us having fun together. God has blessed us with so much togetherness.

How was your 4th of July celebration?

Happy Friday!
